Guided by owner, Carmelita V. Rifkin, and her caring staff of licensed physical therapists, the commitment to quality is a hallmark of this practice. For over seventeen years, her team has established a standard of excellence in the region. After a thorough evaluation they develop a comprehensive plan of care to accomplish your goals. They heat you using gentle noninvasive manual techniques along with with the appropriate modalities and exercises to accomplish your goals.  Their specialties include treatment of: acute and chronic pain, orthopedic needs, work-related injuries, edema, osteoporosis, balance problems and neurological conditions.

Over the years, and with much training and certification, Carmelita has added a unique specialty - lymphedema management - to complement her physical therapy practice.

Lymphedema results from a build-up of high protein fluid in tissues just under the skin. It can cause swelling, often seen in the arm and leg, though other parts of the body may be affected.

Only therapists with special training can address the issues caused by lymphedema and Rifkin Physical Therapy & Lymphedema Center,LLC is one of the few such facilities in Connecticut.

The center is a National Lymphedema Network Treatment Center. Our therapists are certified in lymphedema therapy using the prestigious Dr. Vodder approach and Klose Training and Consulting. Carmelita is also certified by the Lymphology Association of North America ( LANA).

The center has certified fitters for medical compression stockings, arm sleeves, hand pieces and night time garments.

 The center is now offering a lymphedema preventative program for those at risk who have had breast cancer.

The center is a participating provider of Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health Care, First Health and Three Rivers Network.

Most major insurance plans are also accepted along with workers compensation and motor vehicle accidents referrals.
